I asked for God’s wisdom!
#cefjacksontn – This story comes from one of our volunteer teachers, Mrs. Cindy Bush. She serves locally, teaching Good News Clubs in multiple locations in Jackson, TN. This story originally appeared in our 2018 holiday paper newsletter, but we wanted to use it online as well. Be aware that “Ellie” is not the child’s real name. It was changed for confidentiality purposes. Here it is:
“I asked for God’s wisdom,” announced seven-year-old Ellie to the workers at Good News Club. Her determined eye contact left no room for doubt that she had indeed asked the God of all creation for help and guidance. He had certainly touched her young life with amazing assurance and confidence.
Ellie had remembered the memory verse from the last week’s Bible story of Daniel. “If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God… and it shall be given him.” James 1:5
Can children be touched by the compelling stories in the Word of God? Can their limited life experiences break through difficult circumstances? Does the Almighty Lord of Hosts search out young hearts of children to bring them to the Father’s throne? We certainly believe so.
“Then were there brought unto him little children, that he should put his hands on them, and pray: and the disciples rebuked them. But Jesus said, Suffer little children, and forbid them not, to come unto me: for of such is the kingdom of heaven.” Matthew 19:13-14
This is just one story of how God has touched the lives of children though our Good News Clubs. We look forward to sharing many more with you in the future.
