Little is Much
In East Jackson, our youngest Good News Club®, hosted by East Union Baptist Church, is wrapping up its first year of ministering to children at a nearby elementary school. Each week, 8-12 students gather with leaders to hear the Good News about Jesus through Bible stories, fun songs, and review games. This small but mighty club continues to bear fruit through the faithful ministry of Pastor Bill Laarz and his team of volunteers. Pastor Laarz stated that the team has built strong relationships with the children by loving them no matter what. Because of this action, the children trust leaders to share the truth about God and who we are in relationship to Him and each other. The club was blessed to witness four students make professions of faith throughout the 2023-24 school year. Besides uplifting the children who attended, the club has strengthened the relationships between volunteers as they work side by side to share the Gospel with students each week. Pastor Laarz also shared that the lessons helped him see the Bible come to life and that familiar Bible passages have become more meaningful as he teaches them to the children.
This club illustrates that little is much when God is in it. Throughout the Bible, there are several instances when the Lord takes what seems like not enough and amplifies it to achieve what seems impossible. Whether feeding thousands with only five loaves of bread and two fish (John 6: 1-13), giving 300 men the strength to defeat over a hundred thousand (Judges 7), and many others.
We look forward to seeing what God will continue to do through the meaningful work of the volunteers at East Union Baptist Church.
